Course Overview
The JNCIS-SP Certification curriculum includes 9 days of training that covers technology aspects that meet the Junos Specialist Certification tier for the Service Provider. Students attending this series will take part in 3 courses (after meeting prerequisites) as part of the certification, including Routing and Switching technology and protocols running Junos Software.
This Bundle prepares students for the JNCIS-SP Certification exam, whose topics are based on the content of these courses:
Part 2 of the JNCIS-SP Bundle includes the JMV course which is taken separately.
Course Objectives
This course provides students an overview of switching concepts such as LANs, Layer 2 address learning, bridging, virtual LANs (VLANs), provider bridging, provider backbone bridging, VLAN translation, spanning-tree protocols, and Ethernet Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM). This course also covers Routing topics that are germane to the JNCIS-SP Certification exam now available at VUE testing centers. Refer to each course for detailed content, a general outline of course content includes:
- Configure and monitor static routing
- Configure and monitor OSPF
- Write and apply a routing policy
- Write and apply a firewall filter
- Configuration for unicast reverse path forwarding (RPF)
- Implement and verify proper operation of CoS
- Configure and monitor static, aggregate, and generated routes
- Configure and share routes between routing instances
- Implement and monitor Layer 3 load balancing
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot OSPF
- Configure and monitor BGP
- Configure and monitor GRE and IP-IP tunnels
- Configure and monitor high-availability features
- Configure and monitor routing for IPv6 environments
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot IS-IS

- Bridge protocol data unit (BPDU), loop, and root protection
- Link Fault Management (LFM)
- Configure and monitor Ethernet Ring Protection (ERP)
- Configure and troubleshoot RSVP-signaled and LDP-signaled LSPs
- Configure a BGP extended community
- Configure a Layer 3 VPN using a dynamic CE-PE routing protocol
